The European Union (EU) is a political community governed by law, conceived and created to foster the shared governance and integration of the peoples and states of Europe. It was established by the Treaty on European Union (TEU) on 1 November 1993 and currently comprises 27 European states.
The EU has developed a political and legal system, the European Community, unique in the world. The European Union is governed and governed by an internal system of representative democracy. It has a total of seven institutions: the European Parliament, the European Council, the Council, the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the Court of Auditors, and the European Central Bank.
The six founding states are: Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
The European Union has a total of 24 official languages: German, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Estonian, Finnish, French, Greek, Hungarian, English, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Croatian and Swedish.
